Sometimes the world is terrible and you just have to keep your head down and push through the bad times. Other times, the world has your back, inexplicably.

This song is about both.

I originally wrote this song to be solo acoustic and vocals and I played it that way a bunch of times.

I wanted to record it as a "full band" sort of thing. So, I recorded my vocal-and-acoustic guitar version and started layering and building out the song.

I didn't intend for it to sound alt-country. It all went that way when I added the electric guitars. It felt like an indie song until those electric guitars showed up. They brought extra flannel button-up shirts for everyone and threw all the beard trimmers in the house into the garbage.

That's the recipe for alt-country!
